My name is Mari Fernandez. I am a home cook, with decades of experience in the kitchen. I am dedicated to carrying on my family food traditions in my day to day food preparation.
Why The Two Rosas?
There were two very influential woman named Rosa in my life. The first was my mother Rosa Saviano Wilson. In my view, she was the world champion of food preparation. The other, was my second cousin, Rosa Tusa. Rosa Tusa was a food writer and editor and was instrumental in some of my earliest encounters with food. My wish to honor their efforts to keep our family food traditions alive is what brought me here. Moreover, both supported my interests at a very young age, inspiring me to continue to this day.
Anyone who knows my family, knows that food, and traditions around the food we prepare, are of paramount importance to us. Consequently, our family history of food, and how we preserve that history is implanted into our collective consciousness. Similarly, we rarely have a conversation that doesn’t involve a food memory or discussion around how to prepare something. As a result, from memories of grandma’s bed, covered with freshly made ravioli, to my father and grandfather making wine in our cellar, we celebrate those memories. Similarly, from canning peppers and eggplant, to my mom’s ability to cook anything, we are keenly aware of the gifts we have been given. Likewise, as descendants of European immigrants and the skills they so graciously taught us, we are thankful.

INSPIRE and and share to future generations to recognize and embrace the gifts they have been given, so that the riches bestowed upon me are not lost, but documented in a way that my family can be proud.
DEMONSTRATE the influence from other cultures and how they have found their way into our lives, as well as our daily meals.
HONOR the women who, day after day, create magic in their home kitchens, mixing love with unrivaled skills and dedication when feeding their families.
CONNECT my stories to readers and celebrate food in a way that is memorable for their families and friends.
